Map Assignments for Undergraduates

1st Map Assignment

British America

Use the blank British Empire and the 13 Colonies maps. Label the items below on the two maps. It will be easiest to label most of the items on the 13 Colonies map.  You can use the reference maps to look for the items to label on the maps.

On the 13 Colonies map, draw in the Appalachian Mountains.
For the locations of towns, draw in dots. 
You do not need to draw in rivers. The ones you will label are on one or the other map. 
Also, note Manhattan Island is on the 13 Colonies map. Put the town of New York on the island.

You may download the maps and use a draw or paint program and email them or print them out or label print outs and turn in or scan and email.

2nd Map Assignment

War of Independence

Use the blank War of Independence map. Label the items below on the map. You can use the reference maps, in particular, those at Other sources--for class use only, to look for the items to label on the maps.

Draw in dots or some other symbol to show battles.
Draw in dots for the locations of towns.
Draw a dot or some other symbol for Ft. Ticonderoga.
Use something such as lines, arrows, or a series of dots to show the routes.
You do not need to draw in rivers. The ones you will label are on the map.
