Opposition Rhetoric
Escalation
This chart describes the escalation of colonial opposition rhetoric from
opposition to the Stamp Act in 1765 to the Declaration of Independence in 1776.
Central and
Provincial Government Systems
This chart describes generally the three kinds of federal government America has
had from the old British imperial system to American nationalism. America moved
from 1) the old British imperial system to 2) Congress during the Revolution and
under the Articles of Confederation, to 3) the U. S. Constitution. Along the way
there were two attempts at having a central government that could intervene in
the internal matters of provinces (colonies or states), Parliament's Stamp Act
(and Declaratory Act) and the Virginia Plan in the Philadelphia Convention.
Constitutional
Compromise
This chart compares the Articles of Confederation and the Virginia Plan and
describes how the two were mixed, in compromises, especially the Great
Compromise, in the Philadelphia Convention, to make up the Constitution.
