This 15-hour track provides a combination of history and education courses to further hone your curriculum development skills and history knowledge. This track allows you to select the history courses that best meet your educational and professional goals.
The secondary education track for the History for Teachers Certificate program requires 15 hours of coursework. All track options require the completion of HST 701 Historiography and Historical Methods and 12 additional hours in your chosen content area.
Secondary Education track:
HST 702 Secondary School Curriculum for Social Studies;
Proseminar (in U.S. or non-U.S. History);
Graduate-level education course: SFR 750 Philosophies in Education, PSY 705 Psychology of Adolescence, or another 600- or 700 level education course approved by the student's graduate certificate advisor;
600 or 700-level course in U.S. or non-U.S. History.
To successfully complete this certificate program, you must maintain a 3.0 GPA in all of your coursework.
