The CWRT Ozarks Executive Committee formed a committee to
study the possibility of placing a monument and/or interpretive display in
Clever, Missouri, in anticipation of the 150th Anniversary of the nearby
Battle/Skirmish at Dug Springs on August 2, 1861. Members/officers who
have volunteered to serve on the committee so far are: Round Table Media
Director Len Eagleburger (Acting-Chair of committee), Missouri State
University History Professor and author Dr. Bill Piston , Wilson's Creek
National Battlefield Ranger (Hulston Library) Jeffrey Patrick, and Round
Table Vice-President Steve Buffat. David Stokely, of Clever, Mo., will be
serving in an advisory position as site selector. Civil War Round
Table President Tom Debo will serve Ex-Officio. The action at Dug Springs was a prelude to the carnage
created at the Battle of Wilson's Creek just eight days later on August
10th. Combined casualties totaled 125 killed or wounded. For more information or if you are willing to serve on the
committee contact: Len Eagleberger at 417-863-1845 or
